Marco Zenone (he/him) is an Assistant Professor of Health Science Communication at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Ottawa. He completed his PhD in Public Health & Policy at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London. He then completed his postdoctoral training as a Banting Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs, University of British Columbia.
Dr. Zenone’s current research program focuses on analyzing the health disinformation economy, with an emphasis on cancer and digital platforms. As well, he leads active research into understanding how public health topics are portrayed in online and public spaces. His research program is guided by the commercial determinants of health. He has published 38 peer-reviewed research articles in journals such as the BMJ, The Lancet, AJPH, and JAMA Network Open. He is a core member of the STOPScam (Stop the Spread of Cancer Misinformation) research team and an advisor to the national science communication initiative #ScienceUpFirst.

The Zenone Lab welcomes inquiries from undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows interested in pursuing research on health disinformation and misinformation, digital platform governance, science communication, the commercial determinants of health, and the online portrayal of health and wellness.
